Internships & Fellowships
Mississippi for a Just World (MSJW) is committed to developing the next generation of organizers, researchers, and advocates working toward justice. Our internships and fellowships provide hands-on experience in movement-building, political education, and grassroots organizing. Participants will gain valuable skills, mentorship, and opportunities to engage with local, national, and global movements for liberation.
Youth Internship
Mississippi for a Just World holds an annual summer internship program (8 weeks in June and July) for students in Mississippi who are interested in learning more about international policy, human rights, and justice work. During this internship, students work directly with MSJW staff to gain hands-on experience in organizing, campaign strategy, and movement history.

From June to July, MSJW hosts a 2-month internship program where students gain hands-on learning and experience in organizing, campaign strategy, and movement history.
As part of this internship students will shadow and work with an organizer from the MSJW staff, and they will have weekly workshops on topics such as community organizing, digital advocacy, and direct action.
A mentorship program connecting interns with experienced activists and organizers.
A final project where interns design and implement a campaign or action relevant to their community.

High school students and early college students (ages 16-20) from Mississippi who are passionate about social justice and movement work.

College Fellowship
Mississippi for a Just World supports student fellows from Jackson State University, Tougaloo College, Millsaps College, and Belhaven University, majoring in Political Science, Pre-Law, Criminal Justice, Journalism, Psychology, Sociology, and Criminology. As part of the fellowship, students work to support our research initiatives, policy work, and legal clinic.

A Six to Eight month paid fellowship for college Juniors and Seniors in the Jackson area. Students receive a $1000 monthly stipend.
Fellows will work directly with MSJW staff to create campaigns, research projects, and work with coalition partners.
Each fellow will develop a capstone project, such as a report, organizing campaign, or digital resource for movement work.
Opportunities to attend local, regional, and national workshops, trainings, and convenings.

Applicants must be College Juniors or Seniors attending a local university (Jackson State University, Millsaps College, Tougaloo College, or Belhaven University)
Applicants need to live near Jackson, Mississippi, and be able to commute or carpool to the Mississippi for a Just World office in Jackson.
We are looking for fellows who are:
Passionate about social justice, racial equity, and human rights
Interested in grassroots organizing, political education, and advocacy work
Committed to learning and working in diverse communities
Ready to take action and build power for change in Mississippi
